  6. This mailing list is meant to be a common meeting area for persons
  7. interested in the Icon programming language.  Topics for discussion
  8. include (but are not limited to):

  10.     Programming Techniques
  11.       - Style
  12.       - Efficiency
  13.       - Idioms
  14.       - Pros and Cons of certain constructs
  15.       - Clever ways to accomplish a certain task
  16.     Theoretical Aspects
  17.     Icon in relation to other languages
  18.     Applications of Icon
  19.     Implementation Issues
  20.     Porting Icon to other machines
  21.     History/Origins
  22.     Idea/Wish Lists
  23.     Announcement/Exchange of programs and procedures
  24.     Bugs
  25.     
  26. Items of interest should be mailed to icon-group@cs.arizona.edu.  Mail is
  27. redistributed to all persons on the list.  It's good practice to include
  28. a signature giving your name and email address, because not all mailers
  29. preserve these.

  31. Requests for addition or removal from the list should be sent to
  32. icon-group-request@cs.arizona.edu.

  34. This mailing list does not subsume the function of the icon-project
  35. mailbox that we currently maintain.  Rather, the mailing list
  36. supplements it.  Icon questions that may not be appropriate for
  37. icon-group can be sent to icon-project.  If you are in doubt,
  38. send to icon-project, note your uncertainty, and we'll see it
  39. ends up in the correct place.

  41. If you submit an item to Icon-Group and get back failure notifications for
  42. individuals, you can help eliminate this problem by mailing such messages
  43. to icon-group-REQUEST.  (Our software tries to arrange for failure
  44. notifications to be sent to us, but it's a moving target type problem.)

  46. A copy of the Frequently Asked Questions (and Answers) for the Icon
  47. Programming Language will be sent as a separate message.
